I went a bit crazy yesterday with making avatars from FACE YOUR MANGA when it hit the flickr pages yesterday. Not only did I make several versions of myself, but I made versions of my co-workers, and friends as well and am using them in my iPhone as their "contact photo." Give it a try yourself. You are going to become just as addicted as myself with the many versions you can create.
"The Ballerina's Phallic Pointe" by Susan Leigh Foster, Ph.D., UCLA, can be read in her seminal anthology CORPOREALITIES. Truly an important read for any academic researcher in dance and the performative.
I will be attending my 30 year high school reunion this saturday! Though all of my BBF's are NOT going I am making the effort to attend the $93 party for the sake of memory, and I will be there! Hello Madison High School Class of 1978! The main reason for my attending has been the overwhelming contact from high school members who have found my Survivor Blog and have showed not only overwhelming support for me, but have articulated how my blog has helped them in some shape or form, wether it has been a wife with cancer, a sister, mother, etc. One of out seven women will experience breast cancer in their lifetime, and clearly my graduating high school class is no exception.
Aside from all of that, the above picture is BITTERSWEET. All of my BBF's are pictured, along with all of the guys I partied with through college. I can't say I remember much from this party event held at Jack Murphy Stadium (now Qualcomm). This is VINTAGE San Diego at it's best! Does anyone remember the CLASSIC "KGB SKY SHOW" events held every summer during the Padres season?
Can you find the vintage ADIDAS shirt, the OP Shorts (remember OP shorts??), the vintage Nike shoes? Old Skool at its best. I grew up in an amazing time: PUNK and DISCO and SURFING and THRIFT STORE DRESSES and TANNING WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT SKIN CANCER and FARRAH FAWCETT HAIRCUTS and SMOKING POT.
Those were the days.
Panoramic of Sunset Cliffs, San Diego, California. I am doing exposure tests for the color of light at dusk. 7:15 pm to be exact. I am shooting a wedding on monday and this location, right on the edge of the cliff, is where it will be taking place. No high heels for me as it involves a hike down a dirt path, and it's kinda questionable when it comes to safety!
While checking out a contact on Flicr (who favorited my photo shown below), I found she belonged to a group entitled EATING DISORDER ART. WTF? SERIOUSLY? That sick-fashion-fad-fuckyouhavenoideawhatyouaredoingtoyourbody incredibly sick mentality...lives breathes well. sensationalized. brutalized. it made me so sad. and the photo they found so interesting, by the way, is me very thin because of chemo, not because I electively starved myself into a shadow of my former self. stupid fucks.
